Interview with Kourtney Heart (The Heat Mag)
On the heels of her back-to-back performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Heat Magazine caught up with 17-year old R&B sensation, Kourtney Heart – and what a privilege it was to have the opportunity to speak with Kourtney.
Kourtney Heart is not only a beautiful New Orleans native with an amazing voice, but she is also a humble soul with a heart of gold. She speaks with a fervor and genuine love for her fans and fellow artists alike, and she gives props to the man above for her success. Kourtney has been entertaining since the tender age of 3. Kourtney Heart is an artist to watch, as she is on a mission. Charismatic and intelligent, this is one young lady who is poised to be a success in all of her endeavors.
At her recent appearance at the world renowned New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, she performed two days in a row – an honor only a few artists receive. Kourtney is one to always draw a crowd and from what we understand, she certainly did not disappoint. Her fans adore her and it’s not hard to figure out why. Our interview with Kourtney was a breath of fresh air – here’s what she had to say:
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who is Kourtney Heart?
KOURTNEY HEART: I’m 17 years old, I just graduated on May 19th, and I’ve been singing since I was 3 years old. I was in a youth organization where teenagers got together and re-wrote popular songs to raise awareness about drugs in our communities, dealing with teens and teen pregnancies. I was in that since I was 11 years old and I’m still involved with the organization. I love to give back to my community. I’ll be at Essence this summer in the Superlounge.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell our readers something else they might not know about Kourtney Heart.
KOURTNEY HEART: I hate spiders. (Laughs) My favorite color is yellow.

Mannie Fresh Explains Lil Wayne Reunion At Bonnaroo
One of the highlights of Lil Wayne's headlining set at Bonnaroo on Friday - at least to the folks in attendance who've followed Weezy's career since his Hot Boys days - was the moment when he brought Cash Money founding father Mannie Fresh onstage, ending a longtime separation that had existed since 2005, when Fresh parted ways with Birdman and the label under decidedly acrimonious conditions.
When the two embraced onstage, it was symbolic in more ways than one: Not only did it show that Mannie and Wayne had never really been at odds, but it was a rather important passing of the torch too. And Fresh told MTV News as much, earlier in the day on Friday, when he said that the two had no beef ... and hinted at bigger things to come later in the evening.
"It's a possibility. Like I said, there's no beef. No animosity," Fresh said. "I got a great deal of respect for Wayne. You know, from where he started to where he at right now. He's on top of his game. So it's a possibility [we could reunite]. You never know."
And as anyone who was in attendance for Wayne's set could attest, that possibility definitely became a reality. For his part, Fresh wouldn't speak about just how the pair settled their differences, but now that they've gone public with their reunion, could the duo could get back to their collaborative ways? It's something Fresh isn't about to write off.
"That would be hot," he said. "But, you know, my half, I'm there. We're going to leave the rest of it on him, you know what I'm saying?"

Kidd Kidd Fatally Shot In New Orleans
According to MediaTakeOut the rapper Kidd Kidd (YM Former Member) was shoot in the streets of New Orleans. This is the press note:
June 11, 2011. MediaTakeOut.com is sad to report that rapper KIDD KIDD, best known for being featured on Lil Waynes's Mrs Officer,was SHOT multiple times in New Orleans. Details are still coming in, but THE STREETS are saying that he was going to his mothers house when a GROUP OF GOONS ran up on him with guns and started SHOOTING. It's not clear WHY they shot Kidd Kidd, but the STREETS suspect that it was a robbery.
But there is GOOD news. It appears that Kidd Kidd will survive the ASSASSINATION attempt.

One of our favorite rappers, KIDD KIDD aka Nutt da Kidd, was shot several times last night while walking up to his mother’s house in New Orleans East. His mother actually witnessed the attempt on her son’s life. Our sources say that the surgery was a success and the doctors say he will be fine. Luckily the 10 wounds he suffered were mostly in his lower region. His family thanks everyone for their prayers.
The shooting occurred shortly before 9:15 p.m. in the 9500 block of Dinkins Street, police said. He was transported in guarded condition to the LSU Trauma Center. Officer Shereese Harper said police so far have no motive or suspects.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111 or toll-free at 1.877.903.7867. Callers do not have to give their names or testify and can earn as much as $2,500 for tips that lead to an indictment.

Will Mannie Fresh Reunite With Lil Wayne At Bonnaroo?
In preparation for the Bonnaroo music festival beginning today in Manchester, Tennessee, legendary hip hop producer and longtime Cash Money Record collaborator Mannie Fresh has been pegged to craft a hip hop remix of the festival’s official theme song.
The theme song, “Bonnaroo (Feel The Magic),” was written by longtime bluegrass musician Del McCoury and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. A story retold by Preservation Hall member Ben Jaffe said that McCoury got the idea to pen the song in a band partnership while stranded in a snowstorm during a joint tour between McCoury’s group and the Preservation Hall band.
The news of Mannie Fresh providing an update to the feel-good original should be thrilling to fans of the producer who gained fame as the in-house producer for New Orleans indie powerhouse Cash Money Records in the 90s. Mannie has also found some notoriety as a rapper alongside Cash Money label boss Brian “Birdman” Williams as part of the Big Tymers duo, of which the pair has released five albums.
Citing money issues in 2005, Fresh moved on from the Cash Money confines and began work as an artist and producer for Def Jam South. His second and currently most recent solo album Return Of The Ballin’ was released in 2009 and featured southern rap greats Rick Ross and Lil Jon on one track.
Rumors are rumbling about that Mannie Fresh will be in attendance at Bonnaroo which makes for an interesting scenario since former label mate Lil Wayne is one of the headlining rap acts of the festival along with Eminem and other big names. Could a possible reunion between YMCMB and Mannie Fresh be on the horizon this weekend?
The Bonnaroo festival begins today (June 9) and ends on Sunday (June 12).
